Book launch for the final publication for NRP 67
The book “End of life in Switzerland: individual and societal perspectives” will be launched at the KOSMOS literary salon in Zurich on 7 February 2019.
The baby boomers – people born when birth rates shot up after World War 2 – will soon be reaching an advanced age. This will increase the political pressure to improve end-of-life care in Switzerland. Decisions will have to be taken not only by individuals and organisations, but also by society as a whole. NRP 67 took an in-depth look at these issues.
“End of life in Switzerland: individual and societal perspectives”, the book produced from the NRP’s work, provides an easy-to-understand summary of what scientists currently know about end of life issues in Switzerland. The book addresses such key topics as individual experiences, people’s decisions on their own end-of-life situation, care provision, costs, legal requirements and ideals of dying.
The authors – Markus Zimmermann, Stefan Felder, Ursula Streckeisen and Brigitte Tag – explore the issue of end of life from various scientific standpoints. All are members of the NRP 67 Steering Committee.
The book will be launched at the KOSMOS literary salon in Zurich on 7 February 2019. Admission is free. Following the book launch, there will be a one-off showing of the film “The Farewell Party” (Israel, 2014) at 7 p.m.
